Kimberly Howell, LMSW
Life can be challenging, and sometimes the weight of past experiences can make it difficult to move forward. Kimberly Howell is a dedicated Clinical Social Worker with more than 17 years of experience in the social work field and over 7 years as a practicing therapist. She is passionate about helping individuals heal, grow, and regain confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges.
Throughout her career, Kimberly has worked with a diverse range of individuals, including refugees, survivors of domestic violence, individuals experiencing homelessness, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and those facing a variety of mental health concerns. Her primary area of focus is trauma-informed care, helping clients understand how past experiences may continue to impact their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and daily lives.
Kimberly believes that healing begins with feeling heard, understood, and validated. She creates a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where clients can explore their experiences, develop healthy coping strategies, and learn practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and trauma-related triggers. Her goal is to empower each client to build resilience, strengthen self-awareness, and move toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Kimberly earned her Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University and has received training in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. She tailors treatment to each individual’s unique needs, recognizing that every person’s journey is different.
In addition to her clinical work, Kimberly is actively involved in the community and has served on the Grand Valley State University Alumni Committee (ONYX), reflecting her commitment to service, leadership, and lifelong growth.
“Life has many ups and downs, but it is our mindset, resilience, and willingness to grow that allow us to transform our circumstances and create meaningful change.” — Kimberly
