Life can be complicated. These complications know no economic, age, sex, religious or racial boundary. If you are currently working to navigate through a difficult time it would be my privilege to work alongside you to set goals and realize and regain your strengths to develop a long term plan for success.

If we are all honest with each other we can agree it is no simple task to be the best version of ourselves. I challenge myself with this daily and IT. IS. WORK. There are times when everyone needs to strengthen their coping skills, see the situation from another view, or simply 'say it out loud.' There are also times when the work that needs to be done is very serious. And deep. And difficult.

Along with my degree, license and clinical experience, I am a working mother, Army wife, daughter, sister and friend. I know that I have so much to be grateful for but I also have experienced losses, times of emptiness, times of anxiety. I get get stressed. I lose my patience. Our family has powered through deployments and worked through the fog of miscarriages. I know I obsess about silly things. I know I should get more sleep and be more active... I feel that all these things and the life experiences I have had with each of my roles has given me a unique insight and empathy to the variety of struggles one might face. My husband and I often look at each other and say "Wow. Never would have thought THAT would have happened to us." But things do happen... and will continue to happen. To all of us.

One of the life events I encountered left me feeling very alone. Alone and yet, I had friends and loved ones at an arm's reach. My struggles were too personal. I was not ready to say my story out-loud and yet I was struggling on the inside. Let me be the first to say - You are strong for taking this first step. Looking online at the various counseling options, I became overwhelmed with the idea of sitting in front of someone I did not know. Looking back now this is exactly what I needed. I needed an unbiased viewpoint and opinion of my struggle. Someone who would and could listen to my struggle without judging the decisions those around me made or the ones I made myself.

In my practice, I offer person centered therapy. I am committed to hearing you and working with you in a confidential, safe, nonjudgmental environment. As a practitioner working with individuals to empower them is my passion and privilege. I work with clients both young, old, and in between. Each phase of life is important and comes with its own unique set of stressors and complications. I support those going through affair recovery, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, grief, infertility, miscarriage, codependency, college issues, abuse issue, bereavement, coping and those facing chronic or terminal medical conditions.

No two people are alike. No two situations or experiences are alike. We all react, cope and learn from life experiences differently. I work alongside patients to make a personalized plan for long-term success.

The people who I like to work with are those that want to work on themselves. You might not know that you want to make any change quite yet but if you are reaching out to see someone for therapy, that seed has been planted. I am here to help that seed grow. People who reach out for help, deep down, realize they want that extra support and that is where I can come in. No matter the specifics, anxiety, stress, depression, anger issues. I am here to assist you in being the best version of yourself that you can be.

I offer a nonjudgmental zone. I will not criticize. I will challenge ideas and decisions but from a stand point of helping you determine if habits and choices are having a negative or positive impact on relationships. I meet you where you are, if you are ready to change, great! If not, we will work on seeing how we can get there.

If you are looking for someone who is laid back and meets you where you are, I am that person. If it takes multiple sessions until you feel comfortable with me, that is fine, if we click instantly, awesome! I am here for you, whatever you need. My approach changes as the need of the client changes.

Therapist

Johanna Hill, LLMSW

About Me

Hi, I’m Johanna (feel free to call me Jo or JoJo!) a psychotherapist for teens, adults, couples, and families who are tired of pretending everything is fine. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or like you’ve lost yourself somewhere along the way, you’re not alone. I’m here to walk alongside you at your pace, helping you reconnect with your voice, regulate your nervous system, and rediscover the parts of yourself that got buried under trauma, grief, perfectionism, or burnout.

My Approach

My therapy style is relational, holistic, and grounded in the belief that healing happens when we feel truly seen, safe, and supported. I blend evidence-based tools with real-life humanity, showing up with curiosity, honesty, and sometimes a little humor. Together, we’ll explore the roots of what’s keeping you stuck and gently practice new ways of being emotionally, physically, and relationally.

You can expect support with:

Emotional regulation, communication skills, and emotional intelligence

Learning how to have healthy relationships

Trauma and the nervous system

Identity, self-worth, and inner child wounds

Grief, burnout, and life transitions

Mind/body/spirit integration

Rediscovering your values and voice

My Background

Before entering private practice, I worked in intensive settings like Pine Rest’s inpatient programs, wraparound services, and school-based counseling. These roles shaped my deep compassion for kids in crisis, overwhelmed parents, estranged couples, and families who feel stuck in patterns they can’t change alone. I am certified in EMDR and DBT, and bring in elements of psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, and humanistic/strengths-based therapy. I’m also a certified yoga instructor, which informs my belief in healing beyond just talk through movement, breath, grounding, and body-based awareness.

Working With Me

I show up as a real person and meet you where you are. Whether we’re breathing through a panic spiral, exploring a childhood wound, laughing through a moment of insight, or practicing a new boundary, I’m here for the messy, the meaningful, and everything in between. — Johanna

Therapist

Maryssa Dishing, LMSW

Hello! If you have found yourself here it’s likely you’ve set an intention of wanting to gain a deeper understanding of yourself or difficult experiences you may be having. I am so glad you’re here. It takes courage to come to the realization that help is warranted then seek out that help. While it is impossible to list all the potential concerns bringing clients to therapy, some of the general areas I treat are: relationship concerns—including intimate partner violence, triggers for feelings and behaviors, chronic pain or illness, trauma, depression, self-esteem, confidence, anxiety, life transition issues, mood issues, grief, difficulties at work or school, and, feeling disconnected from others. I strongly align with trauma-informed care and how this can be used to understand our experiences, as well as ways in which we can grow despite the challenges we face. The connections we have with others have the power to shape many aspects of our lives.  I use a holistic, client-centered approach, meaning I draw on lots of different therapeutic techniques to support your journey of well-being. Some of the modalities I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a strong foundation in developmental and attachment theory. I received my graduate degree at the University of Tennessee. I have over ten years as a licensed social worker. I have spent the majority of my career working with individuals who struggle with serious and persistent mental illnesses as well as co-occurring disorders. In addition to my time as a clinician, I am a working mom to two busy kids. I have a partner, and we are a blended family. In my free time I enjoy gardening, cooking, trying to get back into running, and enjoying my family as much as possible. — Maryssa
